Nautilus Expansion transforms the humble nautilus into a diverse collection of rideable creatures, each with distinct abilities and environmental specializations. This mod introduces 10+ unique nautilus variants that serve as both transportation and combat companions, offering players new ways to explore and interact with Minecraft's aquatic biomes and beyond. Every variant features custom particles, passive effects, and powerful active abilities that can be triggered during gameplay.

Nautilus Variants

• Arctic Nautilus: Freezes water surfaces and generates ice storms. Active ability transforms large water areas into ice while covering nearby shores with snow layers.



• Celestial Nautilus: The only variant capable of flight, moving like a flying mount with trailing starry particles. Active ability triggers starfall that applies beneficial effects to the player and illuminates surrounding areas.



• Deep Ocean Nautilus: Gains significant speed boosts when swimming in deep water zones. Active ability summons a tsunami wave that forcefully pushes back hostile mobs.



• Lava Nautilus: Completely immune to fire damage and can swim through lava as easily as water. Active ability creates a volcanic eruption that ignites enemies and spawns fire blocks in the area.



• Tropical Nautilus: Optimized for warm ocean biomes with enhanced speed in tropical waters. Active ability generates a healing tropical storm that grants positive status effects to nearby allies.



• Coral Nautilus (Pink, Purple, Red, Yellow): Decorative variants with color-specific aesthetics. Active ability spawns coral blocks matching the nautilus color, useful for building and terraforming underwater.

Gameplay Mechanics

Each nautilus must be equipped with a saddle to become rideable and supports a custom armor system for added protection. Passive abilities activate automatically while mounted, providing effects such as fire resistance, night vision, or environmental bonuses depending on the variant. Active abilities require holding a pufferfish and right-clicking to trigger, with each ability entering a 15-second cooldown period after use. The Celestial Nautilus stands out as the only variant capable of sustained flight outside water, making it valuable for overworld exploration. Underwater controls have been refined across all variants for smoother navigation, while distinct particle effects and visual feedback make each nautilus type instantly recognizable during gameplay.
