About Minecraft Mods

Add-Ons are the official way to mod Bedrock Edition. Unlike Java mods they do not patch the game: a pack tells Minecraft to treat a creeper differently, to add an item, to change what a villager trades. That is why they survive updates better and why they work on a phone, an Xbox or a Switch, not just a PC.

Every mod on this page comes as an .mcaddon or .mcpack file. Open the downloaded file and the game imports it by itself; after that, switch it on for a world in Settings → Behavior Packs. Some packs also carry textures and will ask to enable a resource pack as well — say yes, or half the new content shows up as pink-and-black squares.

Two things worth knowing before you install a dozen at once. Behaviour packs that rewrite the same entity will fight each other, so add them one at a time if something stops working. And a world with add-ons enabled is marked as experimental, which turns off achievements for that world — make a copy first if the achievements matter to you.
