New Music

Composer fingerspit (Paula Ruiz) joins the game with five new ambient tracks: Ebb, Home, Memories, Nightly, and Shores. These play in the main menu, Creative Mode, and a wide range of biomes including Desert, Jungle, Cherry Grove, Swamp, Lush Caves, Sulfur Caves, Frozen Peaks, and more. A new music disc called "Bounce" has also been added and can be found in Minecarts with Chests inside abandoned mineshafts within Sulfur Caves.

Sulfur Cube

The mob received a solid round of fixes and behavior updates. The block inside a Sulfur Cube now matches standard block size and aligns correctly with the block grid when the cube is invisible. TNT Sulfur Cubes now ignite from flaming arrows, Blaze fireballs, and Fire Aspect enchantments, and their explosions respect the mobGriefing and tntExplosionDropDecay game rules. Igniting one also plays the correct TNT sound now instead of a generic one.

A few more things were cleaned up on the interaction side:

  • Magma blocks no longer damage Sulfur Cubes that have absorbed a block
  • Sulfur Cubes can no longer ride boats or minecarts
  • The cube now unleashes itself once the absorbed block is ejected
  • Sulfur Cubes now spawn on Peaceful difficulty

The Small Sulfur Cube also got a new model and texture, and dedicated sounds were added for picking up and placing the cube with a Bucket.

Potent Sulfur and Geysers

Noxious Gas can now rise through non-collidable waterlogged blocks and spread through other non-collidable blocks. Eruption plumes work the same way, meaning you can now use Scaffolding as an alternative to Copper Grates to stand above a geyser without being hit by the gas. Players in Creative flight are no longer propelled by eruptions, and jitter at high latency has been fixed.

Geyser timing has also been reworked: eruption cycles are now determined by the block's position in the world rather than being randomized on placement. Placing Lava under a Potent Sulfur block causes it to erupt continuously without stopping.

Blocks

Chiseled Sulfur and Chiseled Cinnabar can no longer be crafted via the stonecutter from Sulfur Bricks and Polished Cinnabar respectively. This was an unintended recipe that has now been removed.
