Wilderness Bound: Mojang Names Its Camping-Themed Autumn Drop
The third game drop of 2026 finally has an official name: Wilderness Bound. Mojang confirmed the title alongside a batch of camping-themed tips, pulling together everything that's been quietly rolling out through Preview and Beta builds over the past few weeks into one clear identity: an update about heading into the wild, sleeping under the stars, and finding out what came before you.
Getting to the Dappled Forest
The whole drop is anchored around the dappled forest, a biome that's hard to miss thanks to its tall poplar trees glowing in red, orange, and yellow. Mojang's framing leans into the journey itself, not just the destination:
- Pack camping supplies and craft straw beds before setting out, since the trip to the biome can take a while depending on where you spawn
- Straw beds let you skip the night entirely without resetting your spawn point, and only need three hay bales to craft
- Once inside the biome, players are encouraged to scout the terrain, parkour across shelf mushrooms, and dig into abandoned camps for clues about earlier visitors

Setting Up Camp
Wilderness Bound isn't just about passing through the forest, it's built around actually stopping and settling somewhere. A few things define camp-building in this drop:
- Poplar wood is the primary building material harvested from the biome itself
- The expanded concrete and wool block sets are available for decorating and customizing a camp beyond basic shelter
- Mojang's own framing is that a good camp isn't measured in blocks used, but in reasons to actually stick around

Cushions and Campfire Nights
Cushions tie the whole camping loop together. You can either find one inside an abandoned camp or craft your own from three matching wool slabs. The intended use is simple: gather around a lit campfire at the end of the day and swap stories about whatever went wrong or right during exploration, whether that's a shortcut that backfired, an ambush from shelf mushroom parkour, or an unplanned rescue mission for someone left behind at camp.
What We Already Know Is Coming
Based on prior Preview and Beta builds, Wilderness Bound already includes:
- The dappled forest biome with poplar trees, red shrubs, and shelf mushrooms
- Abandoned Camps generating across 18 different biomes, each with region-specific loot and design
- Straw Beds and Cushions, both now out of experimental testing and enabled by default
- Concrete and wool stairs and slabs in all 16 colors each
- Explorer Maps found in camp loot leading to other Overworld structures
No release date has been confirmed yet, but given how far along testing already is, Wilderness Bound is likely closer to a full launch than a fresh round of experimental features.
