VHS Filter is a visual overlay pack for Minecraft Bedrock that adds a retro horror aesthetic to the game. The effect covers the screen with scanlines, static noise, and tape tracking distortion, recreating the kind of visual degradation you'd associate with old VHS footage from the 80s and 90s. It doesn't change any textures or gameplay elements, just the overall look of what's on screen.
The pack is designed to pair with horror add-ons and maps rather than work as a standalone experience. On its own it's an interesting visual novelty, but combined with a dark atmosphere, custom lighting or a horror dimension, the effect becomes genuinely unsettling in a way that flat shaders rarely achieve. The scanlines and noise layer naturally over dim environments, and the tracking distortion gives everything a found-footage quality that fits the genre well.
If you're building or playing horror content in Bedrock and want to push the atmosphere further without overhauling textures or installing a heavy shader pack, VHS Filter is one of the more straightforward ways to do it.
