Jewels & Magic is an RPG-style add-on that adds a jewelry and buff system to Minecraft survival. The core idea is simple: cut one of six gems using the Stonecutter, craft it into a bracelet, and activate the effect when you need it. Each gem grants a different buff, like Resistance from Diamond or Strength from Redstone. The system scales across three phases of progression, so there's always a next step to work toward.
Phase 1 bracelets are straightforward to craft and give a reliable Level 1 effect. Phase 2 requires more resources but unlocks a significantly stronger version of the same buff. Phase 3 is where things get interesting: you can combine different gems into a single bracelet, activating the Level 1 effects of multiple gems simultaneously for 30 seconds with a 60-second cooldown.
Beyond the jewelry, the mod adds throwable Powderbowls: consumables that detonate in a 3-block radius and inflict debuffs on enemies while leaving you immune. Each gem type produces a different effect, from Weakness and Slow to Blindness and Levitation. They have a 20-second cooldown between uses, so timing matters.
The system has real stakes. Buffs are active and manually triggered rather than passive, so cooldown management is part of the gameplay. The jewelry doesn't break, but it takes up inventory space and death means losing it permanently. A Curse Catalyst item lets you remove a bracelet safely when you need to swap gear. At the top of the progression sits the Amulet, crafted from a Netherite ingot and one of each overworld gem, which serves as the ultimate panic button when things go wrong.
